Q. You're a contestant on Jeopardy! and you've just won $100 with the "What is Good Stuff?" clue. What's the question?

A. Great locations, deliciously fresh & healthy foods for breakfast, lunch & dinner, awesome service with affordable prices.

 

Q. How did you get started?

A. I got my first job as a busboy at age 15 at a Mexican restaurant and fell in love with the restaurant business. I got my degree in restaurant management in college, started working, and found out about a cool location on Olympic Blvd. that was available. It was called Jake’s Philly Steak House. With my dad, we bought it for $3,500, put another $1,000 into it for renovations, and opened it a month later as Good Stuff Burgers. That’s where it all started in 1979.

 

Q. What are Good Stuff’s most popular dishes?

A. Whole wheat pancakes with fresh fruit, Cris’ Breakfast Salad, California Wrap in a spinach tortilla, Southwestern Chicken Salad, Baja Fish Tacos

 

Q. What makes Good Stuff unique from other restaurants?

A.Everything is freshly prepared, friendly service and a slice of the South Bay lifestyle.

 

 

Q. You're the owner and you know the menu better than anyone else. Tell us the most underrated dish you serve, and why we should order it.

A. For breakfast – our Enchiladas topped with two eggs is pretty awesome!
For lunch - the Veggie and Avocado Burger on a Whole Wheat bun is great. Add some of the Sweet potato fries and its about as healthy as a burger and fries gets!
For dinner - Our Stirfry Chicken over rice is really fresh and flavorful.

Q. OK Cris, dish. Who are some of the famous celebs who have come to Good Stuff over the years?

A. Well in recent times it’s got to be Janet Jackson – shes been all over the tabloids in a Red Good Stuff Sweatshirt! She would frequent Good Stuff Redondo incognito until the pictures started popping up everywhere. Before that I remember one day in the late afternoon one winter day long ago John Travolta and Nicolas Cage showed up to chill in the Hermosa Restaurant. Really nice guys too. Also recently in El Segundo. Julia Roberts came in with her kids for an early breakfast. We were pretty surprised to see her in downtown El Segundo of all places, but were thrilled to have her.

 

Q. We miss the Manhattan Beach Good Stuff. When are you bringing Good Stuff back to Manhattan Beach?

A. Find me a GOOD location downtown and we’ll be back!

 

Q. You star in your TV commercials, and that must make you something of a celebrity yourself. Have any funny stories about people doing double takes when you walk down the street?

A. Yes – my one minute of Fame! I get recognized on the streets all the time – its Fun!
